Photography isn’t just my job, it’s my passion. I wake up thinking about photography and I go to sleep thinking about photography.
I’ve always been the loud, outgoing girl with the camera!!
I have a weird sense of humour.
My friends and family are all a bit odd (in a good way of course) and that’s why I love them!
I love pretty light, laughing, good music, creative geniusness (and also inventing my own words and songs).
I do happy dances when I get a “wow” shot.
I like lists.
I like doing admin.
I love my record player, dreamcatchers and COFFEE!!!
I discovered my passion for photography early in life while bushwhacking the African landscape on family outings. I studied Hospitality Management in Cape Town, South Africa and worked in hotels and lodges in both South Africa and Namibia. In 2011, I left Africa behind and traveled to Bangkok, Thailand to teach English. I then later moved to Phuket, where I lived for 2 years to pursue my dream of professional photography. I studied the Thai language and also got scuba certified while living on Phuket island.
I graduated from the MatadorU Travel Photography program in late 2012. And in August 2013 I was contacted by the Namibian Tourism Board to be the Official Trip Photographer for Solimar International‘s #GoBigNamibia – Adventure Travel press trip.
In December 2013, I came back to my home country of Namibia, where I am now concentrating on commercial photography work like weddings and engagement shoots.
I shoot exclusively with Nikon and processes on Lightroom.
My dream is to one day work for National Geographic, publish a book and travel to every country on the planet!!
Travelling broadens the mind, and I will never stop exploring; my bucket list is ENDLESS!! I enjoy being out in nature, spending time with friends and family and have long walks with my amazingly cute, white ‘wolves’, Tessa and Trey – who came with me all the way from Thailand.
Be sure to check out my photography website, Lourika Breed Photography, where I showcase all my travel photography work.
